McDowell Garment Drafting Machine

Years ago when Dudley had a conference in D.C. I tagged along and spent the afternoons wandering the museums and shops. I picked up a book on pattern drafting systems of the 19th century (Cutting A Fashionable Fit) in a cute fabric shop. The mid to late 19th century is one of my favorite eras of fashion so it really peaked my interest. Every now and again I would search for them on eBay - and ten years later I finally snagged one! It is amazing. It's a metal version (there were also paper ones), and it seems sturdy enough to actually use.

What I'm extra excited about is now that I've come along with my flat pattern drafting skills I'd love to see how the results compare between the methods.

And I also bought a 19' 1963 Airstream Globe Trotter last week. Maybe I need to take my sewing show on the road! Maybe I need a sewing show??  Hmm...
