I'm kind of fumbling around with a handful of projects. I want to create some stock garments for me and the Mister, so I'm starting with a 19th century chemise for myself and a more basic shirt for him. I've pre-washed my cotton lawn and linen followed by much ironing. Both pieces will be embroidered which is something I've never seriously committed to before. So after all that ironing I cut out the pieces for my chemise that I could, and transferred the other pieces to be embroidered. This is probably the least fun part of all. I dislike ironing, and laying out patterns isn't great fun, either. But now I feel like I've got the ball rolling so it's full steam ahead (yeah, right.)

For my chemise I'm using Past Patterns #707 which features a wide shoulder and will be ideal for evening gowns. Which I don't have any of, yet.
I thought about machine-embroidering the top of the chemise, but I figure I'll give the hand-embroidery a try first. If it doesn't work out I have 7 more yards of fabric to play with.
