In a nutshell, I modified Simplicity 5561 - I shaped the hem (obviously) and made a "V" in the center panel of the neckline. I used apple green satin overlaid with glittery lime green tulle (netting), and bag-lined it with matching green cotton. I also recommend making matching bloomers to wear under the dress since it's so short. There is boning in the bust seams (directions for that is included with the pattern).
The wings are made of white buckram that I spray mounted iridescent organza onto both sides, cut out my wing shapes, then trimmed with light blue double-fold bias tape and inserted 16 gauge craft/jewelry wire into. I was able to find everything at JoAnn fabrics.
I was hoping to attach the wings to the dress, but it comes too low (below the shoulder blades) across the back. The wings really need to sit between the shoulder blades - which means some kind of elastic harness.
