Gnome Quilt

This was a fun (but very expensive) block of the month quilt. Every month a box of pre-cut, fusible-backed shapes would arrive, and for an extra fee you could purchase the machine embroidery files. Everything was very easy to follow and assemble. Did I mention it was expensive?

$42.99 for 14 months plus a $9.99 sign-up fee. That's $611.85 for a finished quilt top - and then add the cost of stabilizer, batting, backing, and binding.

Because of the fusible backing on the pieces, the appliqued areas are very stiff. I did not even attempt to quilt through them. I did a basic meander around all the shapes and kept it simple.

I'm sure one could use the drawings included with each month's box to replicate another quilt, but sourcing all those Riley Blake fabrics would be quite daunting.

Still, a very cool process and I'm always excited to try new things. But I probably won't be making another one of these.
