I am a sucker for packaging so it's no surprise that I love perfectly coordinated bundles of fabric. My favorite brand of quilt fabric is Moda - they are headquartered in Dallas and their fabric is printed in Japan and Korea. Of course you can buy their fabric by the yard, but what's even more convenient is buying it pre-cut and bundled. Below are common ways quilt fabrics are bundled.
| Bundle | Size | Cost |
| Charm Pack | 42 2.5" squares | $10.00 |
Layer Cake
$39.00
Fat Qtr Bundle
28 Fat Quarters
$100.00
Fat Eights
28 Fat Eights
$48.00
Jelly Roll
42 2.5" x 42" strips
$39.00
And it gets even easier - because patterns are based on specific fabric bundles. Say you buy a Jelly Roll of Moda's latest design series - well you can browse quilt patterns made just for Jelly Rolls! The hard part of calculating all those different yardages (and wasted cut-offs) is already done for you - all you have to do is pick out the series and pattern.
So while I appreciate hearing how much people admire my quilts - I don't deserve all the credit. I'm usually just buying a pre-packaged bundle of fabric and finding a suitable pattern. Even the long-arming part of the quilt can be done with pre-made stitch patterns (called Pantographs) that I only have to follow with a laser guide.
Talented? Not as much as you'd think. Skilled? Well, heck yeah!
